Break from Palin Part 1
October 1, 2008 · No Comments
I know, this is totally insipid, and most likely a waste of time. But I need a break from bitching about Palin and the stupid things she says; don’t worry, I’ll recharge before tomorrow night. Still, in the next few posts are some funny pictures of fat animals to amuse us in between the crying fits.
This is Roo, a monster bunny, weighing over 15 pounds. This rare (thank god for that) European Giant Rabbit has been adopted from the pet shop twice, only to be returned both times. She’s the size of a small dog, and likes to chew on, well, everything. She now lives with a store employee, but maybe she should go to the zoo instead.

Palin’s Path of Destruction
September 30, 2008 · 1 Comment
Good God, I’ve never heard as much whining as during the last few days; who knew that the bail out would be voted down by the Republicans, only to have those Repubs blame it all on one speech by Nancy Pelosi. What, they got their feelings hurt? Since when does Pelosi have this much impact on what the conservatives do?
I think it has nothing to do with Pelosi at all; I’m afraid the Repubs are just freaking desperate to have the media talk about anything that doesn’t involve Sarah Palin. And I mean anything. That would be the “left-wing, east coast, elitist, gotcha” media, in case you’re wondering. Because it’s becoming more and more obvious that the debate next Thursday will be the death of her. After that initial interview with Katie Couric, I have to admit, I felt sorry for her. This woman has been thrown in the lion’s den, I thought, without any means to defend herself. But then she spoke with Couric a second time, and dear god, do we really have to listen to any more of her nonsense? So I stopped feeling pity, and have started looking forward to the Palin-Biden debate. All she has shown so far is that she can make snotty comments, (“Joe Biden has been making speeches since I was in, like, second grade!!!”) but any substantial knowledge about national or international affairs is nowhere to be found. Sorry Sarah, if all you can do is learn a few catch phrases by heart, there is no place for you on the political stage. The country is in enough trouble as it is, we don’t need you to make it worse. Please, Robot-Barbie, forget about debate-boot camp, pack up the dogsled, and go home. The joke has lasted long enough.
(Here’s a snippet of the second KC interview; one blogger very astutely remarked that Katie may very well be saving the fate of our nation by doing these interviews)
Katie Couric: You made a funny comment, you’ve said you have been listening to Joe Biden’s speeches since you were in second grade.
Gov. Palin: It’s been since like ‘72, yah.
Katie Couric: You have a 72-year-old running mate, is that kind of a risky thing to say, insinuating that Joe Biden’s been around awhile?
Gov. Palin: Oh no, it’s nothing negative at all. He’s got a lot of experience and just stating the fact there, that we’ve been hearing his speeches for all these years. So he’s got a tremendous amount of experience and, you know, I’m the new energy, the new face, the new ideas and he’s got the experience based on many many years in the Senate and voters are gonna have a choice there of what it is that they want in these next four years.
