How (Not) to Kill Roaches

July 21, 2008 · No Comments

Some people really hate bugs. Isias Vidal Maceda of Eatentown, New Jersey, had had enough and decided to do something about the bugs crawling all over his apartment. I am not sure what type of insect spray he used, but it ignited a blast, and caused a fire that destroyed 80% of his apartment. I bet the roaches didn’t even die; they’re nasty like that.

Meantime, tropical storm “Dolly” is apparently making itself ready to morph into a full blown hurricane. All of us, by now, know that a hurricane is nothing to laugh at; those that live in the South know it a little better. So why did somebody decide that it was a good idea to name this one after a country singer? Did they think that a benign sounding name would make it less threatening? As in, if it has a cute name it won’t kill us? I am actually offended on the hurricane’s behalf. ‘Katrina’ at least sounded quite stern, Dolly just sounds soft and cuddly, like that sheep. Let’s change the name to something more appropriate.
