Ever since the story about the Texas FLDS ranch broke, people have been wondering where all the money came from. How do you fund your own private church-slash-brothel? Not to mention the lawyer fees, which they must have realized were coming their way? I don’t care if you make all your own clothes, a place like that requires major cash. You can yearn for Zion all you want; first you have to yearn for some income.

Of course, we all knew we wouldn’t be happy with the answer. Here’s what’s coming out about all this: The FLDS folks own a few companies. These companies have been contracting with the Dept. of Defense to the amount of 1.7 million dollars. Those dollars ended up, that’s right, with Warren Jeffs. Who is a rapist, and who is in jail. But you guessed it; some of these contracts were entered into when Jeffs’ name was already on the FBI’s wish list. Guess some government officials are too busy to talk to each other. Where does the DOD get its money again? Oh, that’s right: taxes.

Seems like it’s we, the people, that have been funding this whole mess.

Lovely idea, isn’t it? There’s one other thing I really want to know; what is it that these companies were providing?
